Open Space

Photo of Water Dog Lake

The unique quality of Open Space is that it is left alone as much as possible, to preserve the bugs, birds, bees, plants, and land.

Along with Parks and Recreation, Open Space is what makes towns and cities "livable." It connects us to the land and provides important ecological benefits: habitats for birds, bees, and animals; land for our suburban forests; trees that keep our air healthy, and a place where we can breathe in the beauty and power of nature. A good walk on a trail can do wonders for the mood, and can stimulate creativity and solutions to every day problems.

I'm dedicated to preserving our open space and assuring that we respect the land.

The organization formerly known as the San Juan Canyon Trust is in the process of changing its charter to cover all of Belmont. It will thus be known as the Belmont Open Space Trust, or BOST. Through BOST, individuals and organizations can support open space and donate land that will be passed on to City of Belmont, to preserve as Open Space.
