Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods are the "little villages" within Belmont. They are created by geographic or development boundaries, have unique characteristics, and most have associations that serve the interests of the people in that particular neighborhood. I became active in my neighborhood association, McDougal, several years ago.
The activity of neighborhood associations in Belmont ebbs and flows. Most have at least one yearly gathering, such as a picnic, and meetings throughout the year. The Belmont Hills Civic Improvement Association (BHCIA), the association for the streets up in and around Hallmark, has a yearly Fun Run that is open to the community.
A few years ago, I, along with the presidents and leaders of several associations, got together to form Neighborhood Associations of Belmont (NAB) . Our charter was to raise awareness of issues that spanned across neighborhoods and to work on common issues. Even before NAB, the neighborhoods got together and sponsored Candidates' Night--a forum for candidates in the City Council election.
This year, a Candidate's Night sponsored by the Neighborhood Associations will take place at 7:00 at the Belmont Library on Wednesday, September 26.
